Osimhen is out of the UEL clash

Osimhen is out of the UEL clash on suspension.

Victor Osimhen of the Super Eagles will be suspended and will not play in Galatasaray’s UEFA Europa League Round of 16 playoffs first-leg matchup against AZ Alkmaar on Thursday (today).

After scoring a late goal in their 2-1 loss to Ajax, the Nigerian international, who has been in outstanding form since joining the Turkish powerhouses on loan from Napoli, received his third yellow card of the season and was unable to play in the pivotal match at the AFAS Stadion.

Osimhen is only two goals behind the competition’s top scorers after being extremely active this season, scoring five goals in six games. In 14 Europa League games, the striker has scored nine goals overall.

Galatasaray, who finished 14th in the standings following two draws and a loss in their last group-stage games, suffered a setback with the 25-year-old’s absence.

With 17 goals and six assists in 23 games across all competitions this season, the forward has been a key member of Galatasaray’s squad.
Osimhen, Davinson Sanchez, and Lucas Torreira are all suspended, and Gala boss Okan Buruk will also be without Mauro Icardi, Yunus Akgun, and Ismail Jakobs due to injuries.

New hires Ahmed Kutucu, Mario Lemina, and Przemyslaw Frankowski were left out of Galatasaray’s Europa League squad, although Alvaro Morata and Carlos Cuesta are now available for selection.
Next month, the victor of the two-leg match will play either Tottenham Hotspur or Manchester United in the round of 16.
