Solomon Fabiyi, 23, has been taken into custody by the Ekiti State Police Command for reportedly trying to use his nephew Jomiloju, 7, for a money ritual.
The spokeswoman for the state police claims that SP Before he could complete the act, Sunday Abutu, Fabiyi, who resides in Ado-Ekiti with his parents and the victim, was captured on Friday, February 14, 2025.
On Tuesday, Abutu informed reporters that Fabiyi had already been arraigned and had admitted to the crime.
“He was about to use his nephew for a money ritual when our operatives received a tip and arrested him on Friday, February 14, 2025, at approximately 19:00 hours,” he stated.
In a social media video that went viral, Fabiyi acknowledged that a local herbalist had told him to find a participant for the ceremony. According to reports, the herbalist told him that the victim would experience a disease but not pass away.
In a surprising turn of events, though, Fabiyi was arrested after the same herbalist called the police after he brought the child to the ceremony.
