INTRODUCTION

The SIWES was launched in 1973 the Industrial Training Fund (I. T. F) as a programme designed to impact the undergraduate of the nation’s tertiary institution studying various processional courses with the practical method of performing function to real life situation on site. In the office or even the factory and how they apply themselves mentally, intellectually and physically in relation to what they have been taught in the classrooms theoretically, it works with the following professional bodies to function effectively cross the tertiary institution nationwide.

These are the Nigerian University Commission (N. U. C.), National Board of Technical Education (N. B. T. E) and the National Commission for colleges of Education (N. C. C. E).

Thus, equipping the student with the necessary skill and technical knowledge to make them highly competitive and professional individuals in the labor market.

AIM AND OBJECTIVES OF SIWES

The aims of SEWES are to bridge the gap between the level of knowledge acquired in tertiary institution and the practical of application of such knowledge in the field of works.

I embarked on the wonderful gesture on 15^th November, 2021 at Smart Studio No 9 Etuk Akpan Road, Ikot Ekpene. I want to thank the management of company for their kind gesture and opportunity given to me serve under the establishment. First of all I was introduced to the management of my establishment, where I was caution on the rules and regulations governing the operation of the establishment. I was very happy when I saw others of my colleagues who where also working in the corporation. I was given orientation and exposed to the camera in other to facilitate my effective operate tripod on how to use it.

I equally obtained training on how to edit sound by using the application. I was also taught on how to use camera to video some programmes both street and the church.

This industrial training has show me how to relates, interact and build a better relationship that can enable an organization to achieve their set goal, I have meant to understand that customer relationship is the most priority of any organization aiming of reaching their set goal and achievement.

My greatest experience is the ability of each person to do their duty. Everyone in the company has their roles to play for an organization to strive and reach their potential. The various departments in Comfort Fm are: Receptions, Head of News, Programmers, Head of Commercial, Traffic, Head of Marketing, Live Studio, Head of Administration as well as Live Productions.

ABOUT THE COMPANY

Smart Studio is the SUG private studio of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic Ikot Osurua, Ikot Ekpene which was approved by the Rector and the student to get their information about the institution.

CHALLENGES

Let me talk about the challenges been witness under this internship, one of the most challenging situation is for the student to locate a good place for their four month programme. Mine was not an exception, I have submitted the application in four different places looking and hoping for their approval but no avail. Another most important challenges is lack of finance, may student do not have need finance to embark on this journey. I want to suggest to the Federal, State and Local Government to make provision for financial assistance to students embarking on this mission.

 

BENEFITS FROM THE INDUSTRIAL TRAINING

I have gain much experience in this exercise, learning how to operate camera, source for online information.

I equally learn on how to interview people on the street, I want to say that SIWES programmers are the best thing that can happen to any student. The experience I gain from here is able to build my confident and practical knowledge in the nearest future.

CONCLUSION

Student Industrial Training Scheme has been a very useful experience for me I am safely say that my understanding of the job has increased greatly. However, I do think that there are some aspects of the job I could have done better that I need to work on.

RECOMMENDATIONS

I want to recommend that the Government the Federal, State and Local Level should assist students through financial support.

More establishment of Industrial Training Center to accommodate student also who do not embarked on this training has miss a lot.

Employer should allow their internship student to handle their equipment.
