Book Summary: “ASA KINGDOM” BY UDOINYANG MBAT

The book, “Asa Kingdom” by Udoinyang Mbat is the tragic story of a people made to pay clearly for choosing to lend hand. The book showcases a mortal weakness as displayed by the Linkusi ethnic minority Group in Asa Kingdom which, in it disparage shows, exhibit its follies to the regrets of the original inhabitance of the kingdom contrary in their expectation.

In the south of Asa kingdom, where the Linkusi ethnic Group settles, the sense growing disaffection between them and the indigenes of the kingdom as they gather to chart a new course for their survival amidst fears of attack and possible extinction of their kindred to the unknown ebb (the period of time when the sea flows away from the land).

Opens in the kingdom’s palace, where Asa kingdom youths begin with their massive mobilization to protest for the unknown, the stage appears set as they commence protest match to the king’s palace and Uto who was among the cabinet members and chiefs of Asa kingdom as Head of Uto family was sent to address the youths leaders, telling them that chiefs and the cabinet members of Asa Kingdom perhaps feel their pains and trial in the land.

King Asuma, the Asa Kingdom head meets with his cabinet members to chart on the way forward of the crises engulfing the kingdom. He addresses the cabinet on how to save the kingdom from the impending doom the priest of Asa Kingdom and the cabinet have agreed to meet the Linkusi community and to take the message to them on Asa Day.

Moreso, king Asuma receives an information that Sam, Linkusi youth president is mobilizing the youths to the trenches, which bring tension to Asa Kingdom unlike kidnapping and other forms of crime that take centre stage. As light fades to darkness, Asa Kingdom chiefs meets as they take their seat, Enu and Okomo’s son was brought death to the king palace.

Seven days after the historic meeting and the subsequent prayers, they appears to be a spiritual upheaval in the kingdom as those who consent to the evil acts. The Linkusi youths begin to experience strange plagues while the innocents escape the lethal hands of the gods.

The two ethnic group gathered to conclude the process of peace accord at the ‘Night of Reconciliation’. The Linkusi chiefs entered with each bearing Rose flower raised on fanciful cans. While the Asa Kingdom chiefs entered with flora raised in traditionally made handly containers.

In conclusion, the fear of Asa Kingdom was finally subdued by the strategy brought by the priest in order to make peace between them and the Linkusi’s. there is an expression that says “Two wrong cannot make a right”. In other word, peace is always engineered by a person in every fight.

Kindness was shown to Linkusi’s people by given them a lending hand but, they needed more not minding what it will cost and even making themselves opposite to humanity but, thanks to the gods of the Asa Kingdom who gave wisdom to the priest even when war was already pronounced in the kingdom.
