At Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, tragedy struck Thursday when a middle-aged man was struck by a fallen broadcast pole and died.
A praise night that was scheduled as part of events to commemorate Governor Monday Okpebholo’s 100 days in office was interrupted when the mast fell on the guy during a strong breeze that followed a downpour.
When he attempted to save his boss’s decorating supplies, the man, who was reportedly the decorator’s driver, was killed by the mast.
The man was struck by the pole due to a strong wind, according to a police officer who spoke but asked to remain anonymous.
“We were all assembled at the stadium anticipating the start of the praise night when the breeze started,” the officer stated. Unfortunately, the man was instantaneously murdered as the mast fell. It was a graphic scene with his head broken.
According to what I understood, he was a driver for the person who was there to decorate the stadium. After the rain stopped, the majority of people were forced to evacuate the stadium.
Moses Yamu, the spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command, did not answer many calls to his number, thus attempts to acquire his confirmation were unsuccessful.
