In Abeokuta, musician Portable has been to the Ogun State Police Command to answer questions regarding his attack on Town Planning Agency personnel.
The controversial artist, whose real name is Habeeb Okikiola, is accused of attacking state authorities as they were performing their duties on his farm in the state’s Ilogbo region.
Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the Ogun police, confirmed that Portable was in their custody in a statement on Wednesday.
According to her, “The Ogun State Police Command would like to notify the public that at precisely 13:23 hours today, February 19, 2025, Habeeb Okikiola, also known as Portable, arrived at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta.”
“An ongoing investigation is linked to his presence at the SCID. The command guarantees the public that this situation will be handled by due procedure and that updates will be given as needed.
Following an alleged violent altercation with three representatives of the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Ota Zonal Office, Portable was placed under police wanted.
During an enforcement activity in Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota, Ogun State, TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi were allegedly attacked.
The officials said that when they initially saw Portable’s father at Odogwu Bar, he said the singer wasn’t available. Portable allegedly showed up with a gun shortly after and attacked the unarmed officials with nine goons.
After reporting the event to the Ota Area Command, which subsequently forwarded the matter to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), the officers who had been injured were able to flee.
According to reports, Portable left the scene and has been hiding ever since, even though nine of his friends were captured.
According to the police, Portable was frequently invited to appear at the command’s headquarters, but he consistently declined without offering any legal counsel.
In an Instagram reaction, Portable said he was being set up because of his connection to Ogun West Senator Adeola Solomon, also known as Yayi. Additionally, he restated that he was undergoing therapy at a psychiatric hospital for a mental health ailment.
