Operators of the Lagos State CP Special Squad have apprehended two suspects, identified as Agbojule Smart’m’, 27 years old. Keleke Michael’s’, 30 years, in response to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM.’s directive to pursue the fugitive suspects in connection with the kidnapping of the wife of retired Assistant-Inspector General, AIG Hakeem Odumosu, Mrs. Odumosu.
Early this morning, Friday, January 24, 2025, the suspects were apprehended as they were leaving Lagos State. They admitted to their crime during questioning, and they were part of a four-person group, two of whom had already been eliminated.
Muyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, stated in a statement released at the Force Headquarters in Abuja that they were taken into custody by members of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police Special Squad.
N2.25 million, 11 live cartridges, and two locally made guns were found among the suspects, according to a statement published on the Nigeria Police Force’s X account.
The statement stated, in part, that “two million, two hundred and fifty thousand naira (N2,250,000), which was part of the requested ransom, two locally fabricated rifles, and eleven live cartridges were recovered from the suspects upon their arrest.”
The release also stated that Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector-General, praised the agents “for their bravery in capturing these criminals and urges them to uphold this high level of proficiency in combating crime in all its forms.”
As it continues to be resolute in its goal of “reducing crime to an absolute minimum and fostering the establishment of peace across the nation,” Adejobi emphasized the police’s dedication to enhancing public security.
Folashade Odumosu, the wife of the retired AIG, was kidnapped last Thursday at the entrance to her home in Arepo, Owode Local Government Area, Ogun State.
The abductors dragged the former AIG’s wife out of her Lexus Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) and drove her through a marsh to an unidentified location.
It was learned that the operation that saved the retired AIG’s wife was headed by Lanre Ogunlowo, the commissioner of police for Ogun State. During the operation, some of the kidnappers were reportedly neutralized
