EPIDERMAL STUDIES OF Euphorbia hirta (L.)

EPIDERMAL STUDIES OF Euphorbia hirta (L.)

ABSTRACT Euphorbia hirta is a genus of flowering plants, commonly called spurge; it is also called spurge family (Euphorbiaceae). Leaves of Euphorbia Hirta L. contains secondary metabolite such as alkaloids, diterpenoids, stigmasteron, beta-siteosterol, carboaromatic compounds polyols. Alkaloids and phenolic acids, are major chemical compounds present in stem of Euphorbia hirta. The plant is medicinally important. The root, stem, leaves, fruit and seeds are all useful as medicine. The present study deals with anatomical studied of the Euphorbia Hirta like stomata,…

EPIDERMAL STUDY OF Clitoria ternatea L. (FABACEAE)

EPIDERMAL STUDY OF Clitoria ternatea L. (FABACEAE)

ABSTRACT Anatomical studies of Clitoria  Ternatea L.(Fabacea) was carried out using standard procedure. Upper surface (adaxial) and lower surface (abaxial), showed that both features had irregular epidermal cell shapes respectively, amphistomatic stomatal type on both abaxial and adaxial surfaces. The trichome is uniserrate on both surfaces. The stomatal  distribution for both abaxial and adaxial surfaces was paracytic and anisocytic.  The anticlinal wall pattern is undulate sinuous in both surfaces. These features could be used to delimit C. Ternatea Linn. (Fabacea)…

LEAF EPIDERMAL STUDIES OF Ixora chinensis LAM

LEAF EPIDERMAL STUDIES OF Ixora chinensis LAM

ABSTRACT Ixora  chinensis Lam. belong to the Rubiaceae family (Chinese Ixora) and is commonly used traditionally and in folklore medicine in treating various disease. The present study investigated the epidermal characters of Ixora  chinensis leaf. The epidermal studies include present of stomata on the abaxial surface (anomocytic) and absent of stomata on the adaxial surface. The anticlinical wall pattern was undulate to straight in both adaxial and abaxial surfaces. Trichomes were absent on both surfaces, epidermal cell shape irregular to…

THE EFFECTS OF ETHANOLIC LEAF EXTRACTS OF Cola acuminata ON MALE SEX HORMONES OF ALBINO WISTAR RATS EXPOSED TO CADMIUM CHLORIDE

THE EFFECTS OF ETHANOLIC LEAF EXTRACTS OF Cola acuminata ON MALE SEX HORMONES OF ALBINO WISTAR RATS EXPOSED TO CADMIUM CHLORIDE

ABSTRACT This study was aimed at investigating the effect of ethanolic leaf extract of Cola acuminata on the male sex hormones of Albino wistar rats exposed to cadmium chloride. Twenty (20) Albino wistar rats were randomly assigned into five (5) groups of four rats each. Group 1 served as the control and was fed with normal rat chow and distilled water. Group 2 was treated with 30% of LD50 of cadmium chloride. Group 3, 4 and 5 were pre-treated with…

THE EFFECT OF ETHANOLIC FRUIT HUSK EXTRACT OF Nephelium lappaceum ON GLUCOSE, BODY WEIGHT AND ORGAN WEIGHT OF MALE ALBINO WISTAR RATS

THE EFFECT OF ETHANOLIC FRUIT HUSK EXTRACT OF Nephelium lappaceum ON GLUCOSE, BODY WEIGHT AND ORGAN WEIGHT OF MALE ALBINO WISTAR RATS

ABSTRACT The effect of ethanolic husk extract of nephelium lappaceum on the blood glucose, body and organ weight of alloxan induced male albino wistar rats, was assay using standard analytical procedures. Twenty five (25) male  albino wistar rats weighing between 109-124g were randomly divided into five groups of five rats in each group. Group I served as normal control, group II served as diabetic group and was given  150mg/kg body weight of  alloxan, group 111 served as the drug control…
