EFFECT OF SAND PARTICLE SIZE ON THE THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY OF CEMENT CONCRETE

EFFECT OF SAND PARTICLE SIZE ON THE THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY OF CEMENT CONCRETE

ABSTRACT The effect of sand particles size on the thermal conductivity of concrete was investigated. Cement concrete was made sing sand particles of sizes 3.5×10-4m, 2.6×10-4m, 2.5×10-4m and 1.9×10-4m by radius as the aggregate. Thermal conductivity of the cement concrete was determined using the Lee’s disc apparatus method. The result showed that sample A with radius 3.5×10-4m had the highest thermal conductivity value of 166.46W/mK followed by that of  sample B with sand particle radius 2.6×10-4m  with the thermal conductivity…

DETERMINATION OF THE SURFACE TENSION OF DIFFERENT SOAP FILMS

DETERMINATION OF THE SURFACE TENSION OF DIFFERENT SOAP FILMS

ABSTRACT Surface tension is the force that causes the surface of a liquid to act like a stretched elastic skin. It is measured in N/m. surface tension is very unique yet some organisms use it to their advantage. Cohesive force causes the tension and is responsible for the shape of water drops. Surface tension can be used in the production or manufacturing of rainproof and is important as it is a good indicator if any change are occurring in the…

A STUDY ON A STRETCHING BEHAVIOUR OF RUBBER BAND

A STUDY ON A STRETCHING BEHAVIOUR OF RUBBER BAND

ABSTRACT This study on the stretching behaviour of rubber band was carried out using standard laboratory method, the study revealed that at (L = 0.16895m and e = 0.001845m), (L=0.1883m and e =3.0135m), (L=0.30m and e = 0.2198m), (L=0.3766m and e= 0.219m and (L=0.4375m and 0.2807m) the value of the Young’s modulus were 2.19N/m2, 1.454N/m2, 9.5N/m2, 20.06N/m2, and 12.827N/m2 respectively. This shows that at smaller length of the rubber band with small extension the rubber band showed a lower value…
