Idowu Kehinde, 35, has been taken into custody by Ogun State Police Command agents for reportedly stealing aluminum windows and ceiling fans from a mosque in Agbado, Ogun State’s Adiyan neighborhood.
According to information obtained, Kehinde allegedly climbed over the Mapara Moboluwaduro Central Mosque’s fence to obtain entry before stealing eight ceiling fans and four aluminum windows, which were worth N520,000.
The spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command confirmed the arrest on Wednesday.
Omolola Odutola claimed the suspect had confessed to selling the stolen things to one Awal Yusuf.
“On January 27, 2025, at approximately 9:00 am, we learned that a 35-year-old man named Idowu Kehinde had broken through the fence of Mapara Moboluwaduro Central Mosque in the Agoro neighborhood of Adiyan, Agbado, and taken four aluminum windows and eight ceiling fans worth N520,000,” Odutola said.
The suspect will be charged at the Ojodu Abiodun Magistrate Court, she continued, adding that a bag containing some of the stolen aluminum window frames had been found.
After being detained and taken in for questioning, the suspect admitted to selling the pilfered goods to a 31-year-old man named Awal Yusuf. The suspect will face charges as soon as possible, she added, adding that a bag containing aluminum frame windows had been found.
