Ronaldo extends his contract

Ronaldo extends his contract with Al Nassr, a Saudi club.

An official with Al Nassr informed AFP on Monday that Portuguese football player Cristiano Ronaldo and the Saudi team had agreed to extend Ronaldo’s contract by another year until June 2026.

According to the official, Ronaldo’s contract has been extended renewable, “but it has not been signed yet.” An announcement will be made over the following days. ”

Ronaldo’s current deal expires in June 2025, and he turned 40 last week.
Since joining Al Nassr in January 2023, the former Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus player has scored 82 goals in 90 games.

Ronaldo stated in August that he will remain at Al Nassr until the end of his playing days, which might be “soon or in two or three years.”

“However, it’ll probably happen with Al Nassr, in the team that brings me joy and where I feel comfortable.”
In a reported $250 million agreement, the Portuguese legend moved to Al Nassr in Riyadh two years ago, seemingly exchanging football obscurity for an end-of-career salary.

But when he was followed to the high-spending Saudi Pro League by a procession of aging superstars, his impact became evident.

The crowning achievement of the oil-rich kingdom’s strategy to improve its image through sports, tourism, and culture was the 2034 World Cup, which Saudi Arabia was awarded in December.

In just ninety minutes after launching his YouTube channel in August, Ronaldo had one million followers, and in just twenty hours, he had twenty million. Right now, he has 73.5 million.

Records still hang in front of the five-time Ballon d’Or and Champions League winner, even though he has likely missed out on a World Cup triumph compared to his Argentine rival Lionel Messi.

Ronaldo has yet to win a Saudi or continental trophy with Al Nassr, despite his incredible play as he approaches 1,000 professional goals in official games. His only victory with the team was the Arab Club Champions Cup in 2023.
