Some workers were saved when a three-story building fell in Anambra State on Wednesday.
Around 5:25 p.m., the building on the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway in Awka, which was at the roofing level close to Diamond Pizza and across from Five Star Eatery, was reported to have collapsed. The incident did not result in any fatalities.
A local person who saw the occurrence claims that after hearing a succession of loud noises, the building collapsed entirely as onlookers hurried outside to investigate the cause.
Rescue efforts got underway right away, removing people from the debris. Commuters and bystanders also contributed to the efforts by helping the injured.
The scene of the event has been examined by representatives of the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA).
In order to ascertain the immediate and remote cause of the collapse, the agency has already established a panel of investigation and declared that it will provide the public with more information as it becomes available.
