Two guys have been taken into custody by the Kogi State Police Command on suspicion of armed robbery.
SP William Aya, the Command’s spokesperson, revealed this in a statement issued on Friday.
Aya added that after acting suspiciously, Mohammed Chelim and Oneh Mohammed, both from Olubojo, were taken into custody while riding a motorcycle.
“While conducting the exercise along Harbour Bay-EGUME Road, officers on patrol by the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, on the enforcement of Third-Party Insurance across the Federation, operatives of the Ayingba Division, intercepted two young men,” he said.
The suspects were unable to provide a coherent explanation for their movements when questioned. They were found to have a locally manufactured handgun during a search.
CP Miller Dantawaye, the Commissioner of Police, commended the officers for their diligence and attentiveness.
Residents of Kogi were reassured by Dantawaye that the command is dedicated to collaborating with other security organizations in order to eradicate crime in the state.
