YIELD PERFORMANCE AND HEAVY METAL ANALYSIS OF FLUTED PUMPKIN GROWN WITH ORGANIC AND INORGANIC FERTILIZER

YIELD PERFORMANCE AND HEAVY METAL ANALYSIS OF FLUTED PUMPKIN GROWN WITH ORGANIC AND INORGANIC FERTILIZER

ABSTRACT The study on the yield performance and heavy metal composition of fluted pumpkin cultivated with organic and inorganic fertilizer was carried out using standard analytical methods. The result of the study revealed that Lead, Chromium and iron (0.216±0.002 mg/kg, 2.586±1.18 mg/kg and 27.830±0.011 mg/kg respectively) were higher in the fluted pumpkin planted with inorganic fertilizer than that of organic fertilizer (0.051±0.002 mg/kg, 0.047±0.042 mg/kg and 12.430±0.045 mg/kg respectively). Cadmium was slightly higher in the fluted pumpkin planted with organic…

PHYSICOCHEMICAL PARAMETERS OF BOREHOLE WATER COLLECTED CLOSE AND FAR AWAY FROM SOKAWAY

PHYSICOCHEMICAL PARAMETERS OF BOREHOLE WATER COLLECTED CLOSE AND FAR AWAY FROM SOKAWAY

ABSTRACT The study on the physicochemical parameters of borehole water collected close and far away from soakway was carried out using standard analytical methods. The result of the study revealed that the values obtained were higher in the water sample obtained close to soakaway than the sample collected far away from soakaway. Although some of the parameters in the sample were within the WHO permissible limit, such as electrical conductivity, pH,  appearance and TSS. Others exceeded the WHO permissible limit,…

LEAF EPIDERMAL STUDIES OF Euphorbia milli

LEAF EPIDERMAL STUDIES OF Euphorbia milli

ABSTRACT A taxonomic study of Euphorbia milli was conducted in search of useful and stable anatomical characters for the identification of the leaf of Euphorbia milli showed features of polygonal, straight, irregular, undulate, unicellular and anomocytic stomata. The epidermis is amphistomatic. The abaxial epidermal cell length, Cell width, epidermal length and stomata width was 50.72, 42.98, 49.80 and 12.3µm respectively, while the adaxial epidermal length, cell width, epidermal length and stomata width was 147.87, 180.49, 174.06 and 24.3µm respectively. The…

COMPARATIVE EPIDERMAL STUDIES OF Ocimum sanctum (L.) AND Ocimum gratissimum (L.) OBTAINED FROM UNIVERSITY OF UYO

COMPARATIVE EPIDERMAL STUDIES OF Ocimum sanctum (L.) AND Ocimum gratissimum (L.) OBTAINED FROM UNIVERSITY OF UYO

ABSTRACT In traditional systems of medicine, different parts of Ocimum have been recommended for the treatment of bronchitis, malaria, diarrhea, dysentery, skin diseases and insect bite. Epidermal characters play a vital role in plant identification and classification. In present study, comparative epidermal evaluation was performed for the flesh leaves of selected species of Ocimum such as O. gratissimum and O. sanctum. The result from microscopal characters is used for the identification of O. gratissimum and O. sanctum. The result s…

COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF SOME HEAVY METALS ARSENIC, CADMIUM AND LEAD IN Talinum triangulare CULTIVATED WITH ORGANIC MANURE AND FERTILIZER

COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF SOME HEAVY METALS ARSENIC, CADMIUM AND LEAD IN Talinum triangulare CULTIVATED WITH ORGANIC MANURE AND FERTILIZER

ABSTRACT The study on comparative heavy metal analysis of waterleaf (Talinum triangulare) cultivated with inorganic and organic fertilizer was carried out using standard analytical methods. The result of the study revealed that waterleaf samples cultivated with inorganic fertilizer had higher concentration of Pb, Cd, and Cr that were above the that of sample cultivated with organic fertilizer, control and the WHO permissible limit. However, sample TOF and the control had heavy metal concentration that were below the WHO permissible limit….

COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF HEAVY METALS IN COW SKIN SINGED WITH TYRES AND FIREWOOD IN ABATTOIRS

COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF HEAVY METALS IN COW SKIN SINGED WITH TYRES AND FIREWOOD IN ABATTOIRS

ABSTRACT The aim of this study was the comparative analysis of heavy metal in cowskin Singed with Tyre and Firewood in Abattoirs. The result revealed the following: The cowskin Singed with firewood Pb (0.10±1.245), Cd (1.035±0.002), Cr (1.573±0.002), Cu (4.525 ±2.131), Zn (2.345±0.44). Cowskin roasted with Tyre had the following Pb (2.006±0.009), Cd (0.967±0.003), Cr (1.603 ± 0.001), Cu (3.859±0.008), Zn (2.98±0.011). From this study it is more preferable to singed cowskin with firewood than tyre as it had less…
