Maybe you have been looking for information on the cultism story in Akwapoly. Then you are in the right place. In this blog post, I will precisely reveal the story behind cultism activities in Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic.

Has there ever been cultism activities in Akwapoly?

The answer is yes, Akwapoly has previously been under cultism terror as of 2005 thereabout, cultism activities on the campus were so intense. 

Their activities in the campus got to their peak when a student was killed in the hostel which led to the hostel being shut down. This incident caused so much uproar in the polytechnic community. 

The security agencies were consulted and in this heinous criminals were neutralized and their activities greatly minimized.

Is the Ikot Osurua Community where Akwapoly is situated safe?

The community of Ikot Osurua has also been besieged by criminals and hoodlums who terrorize the community, stealing from people in broad daylight at gunpoint. 

As of 2017 – 2018, the activities of these hoodlums were so intense, that within this period, POS operators were forced to surrender their money at gunpoint. 

Betting shops were raided and all the phones about 50 of them that were charged there were all packed in broad daylight at gunpoint by two criminals who came with a motorcycle. Phones were sized from students walking along the roads and many other criminal activities.

There was a well-known terrorist during that period who was known for disappearing immediately after snatching items from students, he was much feared by most people in the community. However, it didn’t end well with him.

The story has it that some other cultist groups came and hijacked him at midnight, took him to a far distant place, killed him and slaughtered him into 7 pieces, packed it in a bag, and returned it to their family house.

During this period the students lived in fear and everyone was scared to out of their homes from 7 pm.

These incidents continued until the state government sent a Special Anti-robbery squad to neutralize these hoodlums until the community was restored to normalcy and people were free to much about again. 

During these criminal hunts, many were killed, some were arrested while others fled for their lives.

Is Akwapoly Campus Safe Now?

Talking about its safety, you have to understand that, there is no place in the world that is 100% safe. However, God protects His people also every individual has to watch out for themselves as well. 

Nevertheless, the cultism activities on the campus have been completely neutralized since the introduction of School-school peace initiatives (SPI) and many other security agencies. 

The SPI has used every possible media they can lay hands on to advocate for a cultism-free campus which has yielded massive success. 

I can boldly tell you that cultism activities on the Akwapoly campus have been greatly minimized as such you can pass through the school without even noticing any of them as the school has mounted zero tolerance for cultism. 

The current Rector of the School, Barrister Moses Umobong has further agitated against cultism on the campus which has made cultists on the campus go into their shells.

I can remember when I started school, there were several cultism rumors that I heard about Akwapoly, but till I finished my 4 years in school, cultists had not for once crossed my path, nor did I cross theirs.

Conclusion

Forget about any cultism rumors you have heard about Akwapoly because the campus is safe now. All you have to do is mind your business there, and no cultist will ever cross your path, neither will you cross theirs. But if you are of that group, you will meet with your kind.
