NEVER GIVE UP

In life, no matter the challenges or circumstances you face, giving up should not be an option. There are many that have risen from grass to grace because of determination and refusing to give up. The likes of Abraham Lincoln who lost eight elections, failed twice in business and suffered a nervous breakdown and series of other incalculable misfortunes. Yet he never gave up. He won the election in 1861, rising above four other strong contenders who vied for the same position, also Ben Carson who was known as a dummy in class, putting more effort, with zeal and never giving up, he became a first African Neuro Surgeon and a writer of books that have changed lives around the globe, among many others.

Moreover, I will be sharing with you a personal experience on the benefit of never giving up.

I am precious  Okafor Edward, a native of Iwukem village in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. Though from a Christian family, yet it was characterized with conflict and misunderstanding that my parent had to separate.

It is usually believed that children from broken homes tend to become wayward and do not end well in life. My mind was made up never to fulfil the negative belief of people, and despite the obstacles on my path I never and will never give up.

With the zeal and passion to break free from every limitation, I attended life changing programmes, seminars and conferences that went a long way to inspire and motivate me in becoming a better person and also made me inculcate the will spirit of ‘I can make it’ and made me have a positive mindset. Infact my mind was renewed. It was made like a filter that drains out negativity and retained/held on to positivity.

Despite the fact I failed in the process of furthering my education, I wrote WAEC examination about 3 times and JAMB two times. I never gave up and with the assistance of my mum who encouraged me, I eventually made it into the higher institution.

Yes, I went through thick and thin, I made mistakes and failed, but I refused to quit/give up. Instead it made me become bold, stronger and wiser.

God’s word is also a vital force that helps one never to give up and keep hope alive. The word of God is indeed powerful, it taught me that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me Philipians 4:13.

My sister, also a product of broken home has been able to break free, she is a voice, an award wining poet and spoken word artiste.

Hear this; it is not what people say about you or your background that defines you. Believe in yourself! You  are precious, strong and you can make it, if you keep pushing and never give up.

Thank you!
