EFCC Officer Slumps And Died In Lagos, How It Happened

An unnamed member of the Lagos Division of the anti-graft agency’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has fallen and passed away.

The cop who was not in uniform slumped and died in an unidentified area of Lagos State on Sunday, according to a video that was making the rounds online on Monday. In the video, supporters, including a few police officers, are seen surrounding the officer’s lifeless body.

After a search of the deceased officer’s bag, it was found that the man was an EFCC officer based on his identity card.

The EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the death to our correspondent over the phone on Monday and revealed that the officer’s death was being investigated. “Yes, the man is our officer. His death is being investigated. The incident happened on Sunday,” Oyewale said.

Joshua Ikechukwu, a suspected Yahoo boy, shot Assistant Superintendent of the EFCC Aminu Salisu during a raid in the Onitsha area of Anambra State on January 15.

The operatives, who had traveled from the EFCC’s zonal headquarters in Enugu, were reportedly on a mission to apprehend a group of suspected cyber criminals when they were ambushed.
Oyewale, who denounced negative narratives regarding the officer’s death, emphasized that the commission would see to it that justice was done.
