Alejandro Garnacho, the winger for Manchester United, has won Ruben Amorim over by altering “everything” after the Argentinean was benched for the derby victory over Manchester City, according to Amorim.
Unexpectedly, Amorim cut Marcus Rashford and Garnacho off United’s roster for the team’s 2-1 triumph at the Etihad Stadium in December.
Amorim has urged the England striker to raise his game if he wishes to feature for the team once more. Rashford is still in exile and has made it clear he wants to leave Old Trafford.
Garnacho, on the other hand, has impressed Amorim with his better demeanor and performance, dismissing rumors that he would be sold before the transfer market ends on Monday.
In Thursday’s 2-0 Europa League victory over FCSB, the 20-year-old continued his comeback by coming off the bench to assist Kobbie Mainoo’s goal.
After that match against City, he immediately transformed. The way he sees things and realizes that all I want is to help him and win games,” Amorim remarked.
“Everything about him changed, including how you approach him and how he heals.”
After starting more frequently under his predecessor Erik ten Hag, Garnacho has frequently been utilized as an impact substitute by Amorim.
Additionally, the former Sporting Lisbon manager said that he has occasionally pushed Garnacho hard to get him to produce more reliable play.
“He recognizes that I can be a different coach at times, that I can be demanding at times, and that it can be challenging at times,” he said.
He knows it’s always for him and never in a negative way, but I’m a different person.
“I believe Garnacho deserves all the credit. He is getting better, and we want to keep getting better with Garnacho.
The sale of midfielder Mainoo has also been discussed as the team attempts to balance sustainability and profit goals while giving Amorim the money he needs to restructure his team.
But when Amorim switched the 19-year-old to a more aggressive midfield position versus FCSB, he produced a man-of-the-match performance that included a goal and an assist.
Amorim, whose team plays Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday, stated that Mainoo would benefit from having fewer defensive duties.
He downplayed the possibility that the adolescent might be impacted by discussions about contract negotiations, saying, “I don’t think it is about the contract.” He is regarded as a very good footballer by everyone in England.
“I believe it is more the position because he participated in the European Championship final. He’s uncomfortable since he used to play all the time, but these days he plays and doesn’t. For him, it’s different because it requires a lot of him, and I think he was happier playing that role. They perform better when they are content. It’s as easy as that.
